Recently, in giving the invitation to the offering during worship, the lay leader — a 20+ year member of the church — told how in the past the church had no stewardship drive, no information about the value of regular pledge support. She said that “things sure are better now” and that having an annual pledge drive ensures that there is enough money each year to pay staff salaries and utilities, keep up our 127-year-old building, and contribute to mission projects.
The past three years have indeed seen greater vitality at our beloved Kenwood Church. Twenty new members joined. We are reaching further into our community and beyond with increased benevolence giving and response to the United Church of Christ's Special Mission Offerings. Thus, Joyful Gratitude, Joyful Giving is the theme we chose to highlight this year's pledge drive.
Here are some other 2015 highlights:
All of the above is made possible by your regular and generous contributions to KCC. Our Board of Trustees can only develop a responsible and balanced budget for 2016 if they know what the commitment of the congregation is to support that budget.
Pledge amounts are kept in strictest confidence, known only to the church treasurer. Of course you can change your pledge at any time if circumstances make that necessary.
We invite you to return your pledge for dedication during the Pledge Sunday worship service. Following the service, we will adjourn to the Fellowship Hall for a special Celebration Luncheon in a spirit of thanksgiving for your support of Kenwood Community Church.
Can we count on you to express your Joyful Gratitude by Joyfully Giving in 2016?
Your Stewardship Committee,
Charlie, Bob, Jenny, Don, Penny, Tim, Dave, and Pastor Jim (ex officio)
