Dear KCC Members and Friends,
As you can see, the Fourth of July team is in full swing! Meetings on Sunday, plans for clean up and set up the week of June 27 -- the excitement is in the air!
As we immerse ourselves in this activity, though, isn't it nice to enjoy the sense of calm and peace we receive from our church services and the warm fellowship that is a hallmark of coming to church here? We are indeed fortunate to be part of that very special community that is Kenwood Community Church.
On the calendar--
THIS SUNDAY, June 26, we will celebrate regular worship services at 10:30 a.m.
THIS SUNDAY, June 26, there will be meetings after church for both the Auction and Pancake Breakfast workers. Details further in this newsletter.
Wednesday, June 29-Saturday, July 2, prep and set-up for the Pancake Breakfast. See article further in this newsletter for details.
Sunday, July 3, is Communion Sunday and we will celebrate worship services in the garden at 10:30 a.m. After church, we'll do the final setup for the Fourth of July activities.
Monday, July 4, is the big day! Please sign up in the Fellowship Hall to help with the Pancake Breakfast and/or Silent Auction.
Happy Birthday to our members and friends with birthdays coming up (or just past):

A prayer for recovery from sickness:
Almighty and merciful God, you are the only source of health and healing; you alone can bring calmness and peace. Grant to us, your children, an awareness of your presence and a strong confidence in you. In our pain, our weariness, and our anxiety, surround us with your care, protect us by your loving might, and permit us once more to enjoy health and strength and peace; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Happening now (or recently)--
From the Moderator--
Multiple paths to the mountaintop.
Over the weekend, the Dalai Lama visited Southern California to help dedicate a new Buddhist temple. When asked how he could be so seemingly happy and content, he said that after his country and his culture were taken away, there was no way he was going to let anyone take away his joy. For that, he needed neither a temple nor a sophisticated organization, simply an appreciation for being alive.
May it be contagious for all of us as we move into the summer months in our country church on the green.
LAST -- URGENT -- CALL FOR SILENT AUCTION HELP!
We still need at least two auction table monitors from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Your main job is to be watchful & answer questions about the auction process. No need to stand the whole time. We can provide chairs. If you do not already have a Pancake Breakfast job, please, please sign up TODAY.
Dorothy, Marjorie, & Penny
Silent Auction Workers—Please stay for a BRIEF meeting after the service on Sunday. You will get a printed description of your job (most of you are already seasoned pros).
D, M, & P
Pancake Breakfast workers, you're not left out. Linda will have a meeting after church on JUNE 26 in the garden.
Can you help with set up for the Pancake Breakfast?
There is going to be a flurry of activity starting around Wednesday, June 29th thru Friday, July 1 -- when vendors start delivering food, tables, chairs, etc and we start decorating. If anyone wants to come then and help clean windows, vacuum, misc yard work and sweeping they are welcome and especially around Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2nd.
As you may know, at KCC, the Deacons are charged with the responsibility for overseeing the usher/greeter duties of our church. Fortunately, ever since the Deacons undertook that responsibility, willing members of our church had already been signing up to fill those two important duties of both greeting and ushering, much to the benefit of every worship service. However, there continues to be a need for more folks willing to sign up, in advance, and in groups of two, but since that has not happened, it has now become necessary to ask those who have been loyally serving in those two roles to try to do so on a more regular basis, specifically every other month, if possible.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the Deacons,
Roger Phelps, Usher Coordinator
Have a wonderful week, and we hope to see you in church soon.
