Dear KCC Members and Friends,
Thank goodness for the recent rain -- and let's hope we have more! We're so fortunate to live in this beautiful valley. The reds and golds of harvest season will soon turn to the bare branches of winter, which have their own beauty. At church last Sunday, it was good to 'gather together' with others who braved the weather to come to church. As always, it was worth it! Jim's sermon on the 499th anniversary of Reformation was superb. The sanctuary was warm and welcoming and we greeted our friends, new and old. We sang classic, old hymns -- the best, and so good for the soul! And, as always, our fellowship after church was wonderful. We're truly blessed in where we live and where we worship -- in the heart of the Sonoma Valley and at a little place called Kenwood Community Church.

A prayer for recovery from sickness:
Almighty and merciful God, you are the only source of health and healing; you alone can bring calmness and peace. Grant to us, your children, an awareness of your presence and a strong confidence in you. In our pain, our weariness, and our anxiety, surround us with your care, protect us by your loving might, and permit us once more to enjoy health and strength and peace; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Kenwood Community Church on the Cutting Edge!
What? Are you kidding? Nope, it’s true. With the merciful conclusion of our Presidential election less than a week away, we are nearing both the necessity and the opportunity of restoring civility, community, tolerance, compromise, compassion, trust, and the compelling beacon of a larger purpose to our national discourse. Our country is crying for it. Well, that’s what we do best at KCC. Our mission, our message, our culture and our behavior all serve as a powerful crystal-clear roadmap for the rest of the country. Why not us? Why not now? Share the news. Spread the word.

The Pattern In The Seed
On All Saints Sunday we remember dear friends who have died this past year. Here is a hymn sung at many Scandinavian funerals I attended as a young boy. It was sung when my Grandparents died, my parents and my brother. Both the words and the tune are in my DNA.
Who Is This Host Arrayed In White by Hans Brorson was written nearly 300 years ago and set to music by Edvard Grieg 100 years ago. Here is the third verse:
O blessed saints, now take your rest; a thousand times shall you be blest
for keeping faith firm unto death and scorning worldly trust.
For now you live at home with God and harvest seeds once cast abroad in tears and sighs. See with new eyes the pattern in the seed.
The myriad angels raise their song. O saints, sing with that happy throng; lift up one voice; let heav'n rejoice in our redeemer's song!
Bless us all, for some day we will see what we now cannot understand -- the pattern in the seed.
A word on Stewardship
This year's Stewardship drive -- "Bountiful Blessings, Bountiful Giving" -- is underway. It is a privilege for the Stewardship Committee to be reaching out to you this fall to seek your continued support for and pledge to Kenwood Community Church in 2017. These pledges are the lifeblood of our community and our mission, enabling us to worship together, support each other and support our service to the wider community.
On Pledge Sunday, November 13, we request you return your pledge for dedication during the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service. Following the service, we will adjourn to the Fellowship Hall for a special Celebration Luncheon in the spirit of thanksgiving for your support of Kenwood Community Church.
Your Stewardship Committee,
Daymon, Jenny, Gil, Don, Dave, and Pastor Jim (ex officio)
All Saints Sunday Memorial Payers
On November 6, we will celebrate All Saints Sunday, which includes memorial prayers. If you wish to remember someone who has died and did not submit a card last Sunday, please PRINT their name(s) on a 3x5 card found on the narthex table this Sunday and give it to the ushers before worship.

Looking for a photo of the Labyrinth
Ladies, does anyone have a photo of the labyrinth from our visit to Westerbeke Ranch in October? If so, we'd like to post it on the church website as part of an article about the WOW meeting. Please send the photo in jpeg format to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
Save the Date! Saturday, December 3rd -- Gingerbread Extravaganza! Fellowship Hall 2pm - 4pm. Holiday activity fun for all ages. It takes a lot of elves to make this happen, so please let Linda Salomon know if you can help. Begin the holiday season and plan to join in joyful festivities and take home your very own mini-gingerbread house.
The Upper Room is here
The November-December issue of The Upper Room has arrived and can be picked up in the Narthex.
