If ever there was a time for a compelling counterpoint to all the violence and discord in the world, now is the time. Let's not deny the terror, tragedy, and rancor that seemingly unfolds before our eyes on a weekly basis. Let's acknowledge them, pray for those who suffer, and then rise up in love, fellowship, and commitment to each other. At a time when large ideologies and institutions are wreaking havoc, let us take sanctuary and support in our congregation and in our worship. This is both our anchor and our beacon, and I am grateful for it. Let's keep it simple and be persistent as we walk through the fields of summer: faith, hope, and love. These three, and the greatest of these is love.
