At our monthly Board of Trustees meeting Monday, we were reviewing our upcoming plans for the Fourth of July to make sure that everyone leading the activities had the support they needed. While they selflessly assured us that indeed they did and that the members of the congregation had truly stepped up, it got me thinking.
Do each of us have the support we need? Are we sometimes reluctant to share our vulnerabilities and instead put our best foot forward, hoping that life will work itself out? There is nothing wrong with faith and self-reliance, but sometimes the understanding, support, and strong shoulders of our friends can provide the margin of difference. Our congregation rallies impressively when the need is known. It is the essence of who we are and what we believe. Let’s make sure that we reach out to each other to take full advantage of this loving, caring community.
