This past Sunday, in taking yet another page from the sermons of our very own Pastor Jim Fish, Nicholas Kristoff wrote a column on how far today’s Christian church, and most other religions, have migrated from the mission and the message of their founders. Many of us may wrestle with some of the doctrine of our church as interpreted by others, but one thing is stunningly clear: Jesus Christ was one of the most profound and impactful individuals ever to walk the earth. His example of sharing love, caring for others, striving for peace, and expressing forgiveness, was not only radical for its time but enduring for all time.
This coming Sunday, we will be remembering our very own saints who walked before us at Kenwood Community Church with the dedication of our Memorial Wall and commemorating those who sacrificed their lives fifteen years ago in the 9/11 tragedy. If Jesus were living among us today, in the flesh as well as in the Spirit, how would he show up on Sunday? How can we?
