Dear KCC Members and Friends,
Looking at the calendar you'll see lots going on this month, from the fun-filled activities of the St. Patrick's Day luncheon and the WOW potluck and meeting through to the special and deeply meaningful worship services we will celebrate for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter. Each of these represents what brings us together as a community. We celebrate together, we worship together. And--behind the scenes -- interspersed throughout these 'activities' -- are the friendships, caring, and kindness that make us who we are. Kenwood Community Church. A very special place to be.

Other news of the church--
Please remember the following church members and friends in your prayers:
Frank and Michael
Preston and Donna
A prayer for recovery from sickness:
Almighty and merciful God, you are the only source of health and healing; you alone can bring calmness and peace. Grant to us, your children, an awareness of your presence and a strong confidence in you. In our pain, our weariness, and our anxiety, surround us with your care, protect us by your loving might, and permit us once more to enjoy health and strength and peace; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
From the Moderator--
Pastor Jim and I have been talking about having a book discussion soon around "Being Mortal" by Atul Gawande. The author is a neurosurgeon from Boston who has done a wonderful job looking at the final chapter of our lives as an opportunity to live with grace, meaning and dignity rather than prolonging it with the increasingly extraordinary means of modern Western medicine and the protective and frequently sterile environment of institutional nursing homes. It is a message for healthcare providers and most importantly for ourselves. If you would like to co-lead this discussion or simply to participate in it, please let Jim or myself know as we want to find a time and place that works most effectively for everyone. If you have not yet read the book, we urge you to do so.
March 13--Not a Second Sunday Potluck, but a Genuine St. Patrick's Day Irish Lunch
Please join us for something different on the Second Sunday in March. Sue and Dale send this invitation: "It's the gathering of the clans for a St. Patrick's Day Irish dinner. Please come and enjoy as our guests. Let's fill the social hall with the luck of the Irish. Right after church on March 13. See you then. Sue and Dale." A sign up sheet will be in the Fellowship Hall this Sunday so that Sue and Dale will know how many of us 'Irish at Heart' to expect. Thank you!
Women of the World (WOW) to meet on March 16
Ladies, don't miss having a fun day. A furnished potato bar and a style show presented by the Assistance League of Sonoma County. The models will be volunteers from their thrift store--'New to You," and their outfits, from spring donations. Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
Please sign up if you are coming and can bring special toppings for the potatoes. Everything else (potatoes, etc.) will be furnished. Maggie Martin, WOW Hostess for March.
Valley of the Moon Children's Center
At the February meeting of the Women of the World (WOW), we heard Meg Easter-Dawson speak about the Valley of the Moon Children’s Center. Meg gave us a list of wants and needs for the Home. Last year our group, with the help of the congregation, donated health kits and school kits to Church World Service for distribution all over the world. This year we decided to go local and donate to the Valley of the Moon Children’s Center. If any of you would like to donate any of the items below please either bring them to church or to Earla Snow’s home.
There are many ways that we at KCC can help the Children's Center, including volunteering and donating. There is need for the following items especially:
For those of you who are interested, Earla Snow will conduct a tour of the home on Thursday, March 10 at 10 a.m. There is a sign up sheet in the Fellowship Hall or you can call Earla to let her know that you'd like to come.
2016 Silent Auction Information Meeting
The essential first step in putting on this fundraiser is… GETTING DONATIONS -- of gift cards, services, and items. Please see us at coffee hour this Sunday, March 6, to find out how to do it. A guide sheet will be available. Whether you prefer hunting, gathering, or both, YOU ARE NEEDED!
Dorothy, Penny, & Marjorie
Have a wonderful week, and we hope to see you in church soon.
