Dear KCC Members and Friends,
When you look at our calendar this month, you'll see how much goes on in the life of our little church during this special season. And one of the joys of the Christmas season is coming into our beautiful sanctuary, worshiping with our friends and enjoying both the music and the seasonal decorations. With this in mind, we'd like to ask for your help in bringing poinsettias to help decorate the sanctuary. If you can do so, we ask that the plants be brought to church by December 12 and left for the Christmas Eve and December 27 services. Your help with this will be most appreciated. Our sanctuary is never more beautiful than it is at Christmas!

Other news of the church--
Please remember the following church members and friends in your prayers:
Betty and Don
Frank and Michael
Preston and Donna
A prayer for recovery from sickness:
Almighty and merciful God, you are the only source of health and healing; you alone can bring calmness and peace. Grant to us, your children, an awareness of your presence and a strong confidence in you. In our pain, our weariness, and our anxiety, surround us with your care, protect us by your loving might, and permit us once more to enjoy health and strength and peace; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
From the Moderator--
As we look ahead to our congregational focus and initiatives for 2016 and our own personal needs as we continue to grow older together, I urge you to think about what kind of programs would best serve us as a complement to our worship. Specifically, would you be interested in a series, open to both church members and the community, that would be centered on how we can live gracefully and with fulfillment in this chapter of our lives?
How can we identify and pursue a purpose in retirement that brings significance to both ourselves and others? How do we find the right balance between accepting the frailties that come with age and the promises of western medicine? How can we prepare for and cope with the inevitability of death and dying, and indeed, how each of us can die with dignity and help others to do the same? How can we make sure that our estate matters are in order? Who among us needs help?
If some of these programs are of interest to you, or there are other topics of high value, please let me or any of the Trustees know which ones, and also the best times to have these discussions. Before church, after church or mid-week mornings?
Gratefully and in anticipation,
The KCC Women's Choir is underway,
and it's lots of fun! Come join us, if you can. Our rehearsal schedule is:
Thursday, December 3, 3:30-4:45 p.m.
Wednesday, December 9, 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Wednesday, December 16, 3:00-4:15 p.m.
You'll be able to hear us sing at the Christmas Eve service.
Christmas Fund Offering
The Benevolence Committee is once again sponsoring the Christmas Fund offering, which will take place on December 20. It's theme this year is "Love Shines Through." The Christmas Fund is for Veterans of the Cross (retired clergy and lay church employees) and the Emergency Fund (assistance to clergy or lay church employees in need) and Christmas "Thank You" gifts to hundreds of annuitants; administered by the Pension Board. Members of the Benevolence Committee will give brief information on this offering during church services in December.
Women of the World (WOW)
Women of the World will host their annual Christmas potluck luncheon and gift exchange on Wednesday, December 16, at noon in the fellowship hall. Ladies, this is a truly fun and festive event, and we hope you'll be able to join us. A sign-up sheet for the potluck will be in the fellowship hall this Sunday. Plan to bring a gift to exchange; we'll have lots of fun as the gifts are opened. Under the rules of the gift exchange game lots of trading will go on, and you won't know what you'll end up with until the game is over! Please contact Cathy or Linda to RSVP or if you'd like further information.
It's almost time for the annual Gingerbread Decorating Extravaganza, which will take place on Saturday, December 5, at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall. It takes lots of elves to make this happen, so please let Linda know if you can help.
Have a wonderful week, and we hope to see you in church soon.
