In Loving Memory
This past Sunday morning we dedicated the new Memorial Wall constructed by Bob and Linda Salomon. It was good; it was tough.
It was particularly loving and heartfelt to have immediate family of the new Saints present. Each name is a person to us, with a story, a life history, a joyful remembrance.
It is one thing to see the name of your beloved in the newspaper or on a death certificate. It is something else to see their names in bronze, fastened to a wall.
A name in bronze has a strength and permanence to it. The plaques are heavy; the font style decisive. They have strength in them. They are not wood or tin. They won't rust away or recycle back into the earth.
Bronze gives this assurance:
Your love for others is remembered.
How good it was to have you among us.
We will think of you as we pass by.
