At Kenwood Community Church, you can afford the wine country
wedding of your dreams in historic, idyllic Sonoma Valley.
On a quiet street in a small town in the heart of California's Valley of the Moon, Kenwood Community Church has been welcoming visitors and celebrating affordable wine country weddings for over a century.
With room for 100+ guests — yet with the intimacy of a small village chapel — couples from all over the world have formalized their vows in romantic wedding ceremonies at this historic, idyllic wine country church in Sonoma Valley.
Little has changed here over the years. Daylight still streams through the original antique, stained glass windows. Folks still gather each Sunday to worship, sing hymns, hear uplifting sermons, while sitting in the same oak chairs we have had since the beginning, and gather in the garden after church in the shade of an ancient tree.
Reminiscent of a classic New England church, the gracious façade accented by a stately steeple, bell tower, and hand-carved oak doors welcomes you and your guests and family to share a joyous, communal occasion never to be forgotten.
The calm serenity of the church is notable from the moment you cross the threshold to enter the foyer beneath the bell tower, with its rare historic murals. Notable features of the church are the antique stained glass windows, which flood the sanctuary with light and color both day and night, the vintage Windsor chairs that await your guests, and the classic simplicity of the chancel with its unadorned, white wooden cross above the hand carved refectory table ready to hold graceful bouquets of fresh flowers.
Located in a quiet, residential area, the church faces a beautifully landscaped park. A lush, green garden shaded by the spreading arms of a century old black walnut tree, is a gorgeous setting for outdoor weddings and receptions, and a romantic location for photographs of the wedding party. Our garden is perfect for ceremonies and receptions of up to 100 guests, and our full kitchen is available for use by the caterer of your choice.
A Sonoma County Historical Landmark, the church is located a few short blocks from the equally historic Kenwood Depot, a picturesque, cut-stone, hip-roofed landmark dating from the days when Kenwood was linked to a working railway connected to ferry travel from San Francisco. Both the Church’s Fellowship Hall and the Depot, with its fully equipped kitchen and all facilities, are available for receptions, wedding breakfasts and rehearsal dinners.
Kenwood Community Church is a congregation of the United Church of Christ. We welcome weddings of all faith affiliations. You may use our pastor or an alternate officiant of your choice. For over one hundred years, Kenwood Community Church has been a very special place for people to promise their loyalty and affirm their love for each other. Celebrate your marriage in our chapel, where couples have been uniting since 1888.
We believe that you should experience your wedding your way. Your ceremony will be crafted by you and the one you love, with guidance provided by our pastor, or your chosen officiant, with your favorite poetry, readings, and sacraments. Our music director can help you plan and perform the musical component. Both piano and organ as well as a professional sound system are located on site.
On your wedding day, we will create a ceremony that is meaningful, spiritually appropriate, and elegantly suited to your taste. Our goal is to make your wine country wedding joyful, memorable, and warm — a day to cherish forever and above all uniquely yours!
Please feel free to ask us for more information about affordable weddings in the Sonoma Valley wine country, church services, the community, and the area.
